Guided by the philosophy of giving back to the community, Schloegel Design Remodel has a history of supporting worthy causes.

Schloegel Design Remodel provided time and materials toward the renovation of Synergy House, a home for runaway teenagers. This project won a NARI community project award in 1991.

Jake Schloegel is a member of the Leawood Rotary, a community service organization whose motto is "service above self."

In 2003, Schloegel Design Remodel received the Helen Gordon Volunteer Service Award from ReStart, a shelter for homeless men, women, and families.

The company has long participated in the annual Christmas in October program that supports persons unable to maintain their homes. For seven years, Jake Schloegel acted as a house captain for the event.

The employees of Schloegel Design Remodel have teamed up with Bikes and Trikes for Tykes, an organization that collects new and used bicycles and repairs and distributes them to local charities.

Schloegel Design Remodel donates time and energy to the Urban Rangers Corps, a group dedicated to putting youth to work restoring homes in the urban core.

John Wandless, City Councilwoman Cindy Circo, and Schloegel Design Remodel founder Jake Schloegel cut the ribbon on an Urban Rangers house. Schloegel Design Remodel helped in the renovation.

From Jake Schloegel:

“The city had declared this a "dangerous building" and it was scheduled for demolition. The Urban Rangers intervened and petitioned the Jackson County Circuit Court under the Missouri Abandoned Housing Act, to award control of the property to the Urban Rangers for the purpose of renovation.

“Instead of having another vacant lot in the urban core, the neighborhood now has a fully renovated home ready for a new home owner.”

See the Urban Ranger Corps website or watch the video below for more on the great work by Urban Ranger Corps.
This letter will provide a recap of the work we have completed at this address in October of 2008.

The purpose of the project was to raise the ceiling in the rear room off the kitchen. The ceiling height in this room was 6”7” which was inadequate. The scope of the job included removing the existing roof, ceiling joists, ceiling tiles, and wall covering. The new work included extending the height of the wall studs and constructing a new hip style roof and ceiling joists. A new twin casement window, wall and ceiling insulation, drywall, and wall and ceiling paneling were installed. Crown mold, wood base and a new 6-panel exterior door with two locks were also installed. On the exterior we set matching eave and facia trim, siding, roof shingles, and gutters with down spouts.

On October 4th of 2008 9 carpenter employees of Schloegel Design Remodel donated their time to start the work. This represented 63 hours of work that day. To complete the project, Schloegel Design Remodel donated $2,232 of material and another 95 hours of labor for a total of 158 hours

The people at Schloegel Design Remodel are committed to supporting the community and the Urban Rangers in particular. The residents of this home now have a more comfortable and safer room. We are proud of the work completed at this house and look forward to continuing to work with the Urban Rangers on future projects.

Jake Schloegel
Schloegel Design Remodel, Inc.

The work is done at little or no cost to needy residents. The Rangers receive a paycheck and learn a set of skills and values while improving neighborhoods in need.

Schloegel Design Remodel helps the Urban Rangers through fundraising activities, hands-on training and by working on one of the homes on the model block. Jake Schloegel sits on the Urban Ranger Corps. Board of Directors.

“I think our company and the Urban Rangers are a great fit,” Jake Schloegel said. “The Urban Rangers are committed to bringing back the homes in the urban core while working with the youth of the area at the same time. With our experience in renovation, there’s much we have to offer.”
