This young, growing family had some safety concerns at their South Plaza home. Bare wood stairs and lack of anything to hold on to led to real concerns for Mom about carrying the baby down the wooden stair treads and slipping. Schloegel Handyman was called in to remedy the situation, with the installation of a new handrail and carpet runner. With this timely update, all can now sleep a little better (hopefully baby included!) knowing safe passage will be granted via this beautiful new runner and handrail!

Do-It-Yourself Homeowner Gets a Little Support from Our Handyman0

sidingOur Handyman recently helped complete siding repairs at this Prairie Village home.

The homeowner is a definite weekend warrior! He removed two windows to create a larger bedroom and bathroom, then sheathed the exterior, but was not able to get the waterproofing felt installed before the spring rains came. When this weekend warrior gets bogged down with other items he knows it’s time to call Schloegel.  Our Handyman technician Kirk was able to install the felt before the rains came and then continued siding in the rain to get this project complete.

Do you live in a shake shingle sided home?  If so, there are a couple of things to consider when making repairs. First, are the shingles machine or hand split?  Have the shingles been sandblasted? And finally, are the rows the same height across from windows/doors?  All of these are items our Handyman was able to address at this home, then corrected and made right!

Another weekend warrior satisfied!  We don’t have to complete your whole project, call us in for the items you don’t have the time for or those things that may be reaching the outer limits of your skill set.  Call our Handyman at 816-361-9669 or email Charlie@RemodelAgain.com .  Go ahead, call or email. Everyone’s doing it!

It is amazing how a beautiful job can come together in just a few weeks with the help of a great team of professionals. Introducing the kitchen for this year’s 44th Symphony Designers’ Showhouse!

What a journey it has been. Each facet of the process was truly a collaboration between Schloegel and our vendors, sponsors & contractors.  This includes the beautiful Cambria countertop installed by our friends at Trendstone Fabricators, with the entire peninsula lowered for an accessible design; the Loyal Blue (#6510) paint from Sherwin Williams that was added to the walls; the amazing restoration of the original wood & glass cabinets by our friends at Wood Savers; window treatments to let the light shine in from Hunter Douglas; appliances (including the red range!) from our vendor Ferguson Enterprises; artwork from Prairiebrooke Arts and accessories galore from Pryde’s Old Westport. We couldn’t have completed this project without these, or any of our vendors & sponsors!

See all of our completed kitchen photos here.

We invite you to come to the Showhouse and see the transformation for yourself, we think you will agree that seeing it in person is even more incredible than the pictures! The Showhouse is open now through May 19, 2013; visit their website for hours and ticket information.

After, Updated Walls, Ceiling & Countertop

This ranch home in Leawood needed a number of updates, especially in the basement. We started off by replacing the tiered tile bar countertop, allowing more working space on the lower tier for the client. Next, we painted the basement walls and replaced the ceiling tiles, while realigning the grid and lights in the process. Finally we added a recirculating heat pump on the hot water supply line to allow for “on-demand” hot water throughout the whole house!  We also took care of a few minor items throughout the rest of the home, including replacing multiple burnt out light bulbs and two different faucets and supply lines, and adjusting cabinet door hinges. In the end, it was the much needed makeover our client desired.

This repeat customer was not looking to remodel the whole basement, but wanted to clean up the space and add a fresh look.  Do you have areas of your home that don’t necessarily call for a complete remodel, but could use some attention?  Call our Handyman Services today for a consultation.  Contact Charlie at 816-361-9669 or Charlie@RemodelAgain.com.

A couple of months ago, we featured a story about a very unique lamp that our Design Consultant Megan Lynch created for clients of hers using a piece of cactus wood. These clients loved the work so much that they have recently asked Megan to create lighting, specifically custom blown glass pendant lights, to be placed over their kitchen island. Their farmhouse kitchen features a multi-color cupola and cherry beams at the ceiling, so together they decided to add a fun and artistic statement with new lights. Megan & her clients met with glass-blowing artist Dierk Van Keppel at his warehouse in Kansas City to look at colors, shapes and textures for the new design. Dierk has been crafting free-blown pieces with his talented team in his studio, Rock Cottage Glassworks, since 1981. Stay posted for finished photos of the lights in the upcoming months!

Enjoy Maintenance Provided Living in Your Own Home0

1-older-senior-couple-lgnWhen you think about getting older, what do you imagine? For most, the dream is to be able to stay in the home you’ve spent so many years making memories in, to age in place. But according to a study from the Milken Institute, that’s just not possible for many aging Kansas City residents.

Of course, there are a number of factors that often force seniors out of the homes they love and into senior living facilities. But maybe the biggest among them is upkeep; owning a home requires work that can be physically demanding, and many over the age of 65 don’t have the capacity to perform even the most routine maintenance.

Luckily, we do. That’s why we created the Schloegel Home Maintenance Management service to create maintenance provided living in your own home. The service starts with a complete home inspection, and then we implement a customized property maintenance plan that protects the home – and the people that reside within. We even offer different packages that range from just a few simple services to full blown home maintenance management.

At Schloegel, we believe that mature adults provide leadership, personality and a unique perspective to our neighborhoods and communities, and we want to help make your golden years exactly like you have always imagined. So give us a call, and let’s talk about staying in your home for the long term.
