Last updated on March 26, 2026

Spring is one of the best times to enjoy everything our amazing city has to offer. As the weather warms up in Kansas City, homeowners are not only getting outside more, they’re also starting to notice the projects around the house they’ve been putting off all winter. Whether it’s planning a remodel, tackling repairs, or simply refreshing your space, spring is the perfect season for a fresh start.

At the same time, it’s also the perfect time to explore spring things to do in Kansas City. From outdoor patios and farmers markets to iconic local events, there’s no shortage of ways to enjoy the season. Here’s our Spring Find the Fun List—a mix of local favorites and can’t-miss activities happening around KC.

Table of Contents

Spring fun things to do in Kansas City list presented by Schloegel Design Remodel with a bucket list of things to do to get involved in the KC community

Fountain Day Fun

Nothing says spring in Kansas City quite like a nice stroll by some of our incredible fountains. Fountain Day is an iconic tradition that marks the official return of the city’s beautiful fountains, and it’s one of the most recognizable signs that warmer days are here!

Head to Loose Park’s Rose Garden Fountain for the official kickoff and enjoy a day filled with local energy, photo-worthy views, and that unmistakable “spring in KC” feeling. If you’re searching for things to do in Kansas City in April, this is should be at the top of the list.

Patio Season Perfection

As temperatures rise, patios across Kansas City come back to life. Whether you're meeting friends for brunch, enjoying a casual lunch, or winding down with a drink in the evening, there’s something about patio season that makes everything better.

Popular spots in Brookside, the Plaza, and downtown KC offer everything from relaxed coffee shops to vibey rooftop experiences. Some of our favorites are Gram & Dun for a plaza lunch, Percheron rooftop (on top of the Crossroads Hotel) for date night or a catch up with friends, La Bodega for sangria and tapas to name a few. If you're looking for outdoor dining in Kansas City this spring, now is the time to explore your go-to spots, or find a new favorite!

Stop & Smell the Orchids

Spring is all about slowing down and enjoying the beauty around you, and there’s no better place to do that than Powell Gardens. Their Orchid Delirium exhibit is a must-see this time of year.

Take a walk through the Conservatory and experience hundreds of blooming orchids in a stunning, curated display. It’s perfect for a relaxing afternoon, a unique date idea, or even a solo reset. For those searching spring activities near Kansas City, this is a peaceful and memorable option.

Spring Sips

Spring also brings a fresh lineup of seasonal menus across Kansas City’s coffee and foodie scene. From floral lattes to refreshing iced beverages, local cafes are rolling out creative flavors that are perfect for the season.

Stop by a local favorite like Rochester Brewing and Roasting Company and try something new—whether it’s a strawberry basil latte or a Midwest-inspired iced drink. If you’re building your list of Kansas City coffee shops to visit this spring, this is a great place to start.

Farmers Market Finds

Farmers market season is back, and it’s one of the best ways to experience Kansas City in the spring. The Overland Park Farmers Market is a local favorite, offering everything from fresh produce to handmade goods.

Walking the market is more than just shopping though, it’s an experience. Grab a coffee, browse local vendors, and enjoy a slow morning supporting small businesses. If you’re searching for family-friendly things to do in Kansas City, this is an easy and enjoyable weekend activity.

The new clock tower landing space that will house the market has been under construction for a while and should be open this June! For now, stop by the Matt Ross Community Center to shop the vendors in the parking lot. Here is a helpful parking map

Spring Sports Spirit

Spring in Kansas City also means the return of game day energy, and as we all know, there's nothing quite like it! Whether you’re cheering on the Royals at Kauffman Stadium or catching a KC Current match, being part of the crowd is an experience all its own. The Royals Home Opener is next Monday the 30th against the Minnesota Twins, marking the official start of baseball season and one of the most anticipated days of spring in KC.

And it’s not just baseball! Our KC Current ladies matches bring an electric atmosphere and are a great way to get out and enjoy the season. You can find the KC Current match schedule here. No matter what KC team you’re supporting, it’s hard to beat the combination of sunshine, fresh air, and the energy that KC fans bring.

Make an Impact

Spring is also a great time to give back to the community. Kansas City offers plenty of opportunities to get involved, whether it’s volunteering, attending local events, or supporting organizations making a difference. This spring get involved with United Way of Greater Kansas City through their Seasons of Giving: Spring Edition 2026. This involves a few volunteer opportunities and various dates and times:
