We are a design build remodeler, which means you’ll work with both an expert designer and our in-house degreed architect to put together a basement design that best fits your needs. We will then put together a construction plan which includes demolition and removal, plumbing and electrical work, installation of fixtures and finishes. Finally, we’ll clean up and issue you a 2-year warranty.  Our team of experts will work with you every step of the way to bring your bathroom renovation vision to life, and we are dedicated to providing the highest quality craftsmanship and customer service.

Basements can be prone to moisture so choosing high-quality, durable materials such as LVT, tile or engineered wood is often recommended. Carpet is also a popular option and less risky after the remodel as we’ll ensure your basement is properly waterproofed.

The cost of a bathroom remodel will vary based on the size and complexity of the project, as well as the materials and finishes you select. A full basement remodel starts at $100,000. Our team will provide you with a total cost construction contract for your project, including all materials and labor costs, so you can have a clear understanding of the cost before we begin construction.

Many people expect basement remodels to cost less than other areas of the home when in fact they can cost more. Basements often require waterproofing, new windows, and unique plumbing considerations. Pricing of materials for cabinetry, tile, counters, etc. is the same whether it’s in a kitchen or a basement. We will work with you to set a budget realistic to your needs and plan a basement remodel to help expand the usable space in your home.

During the Design Phase of your basement remodel our team will assess whether you have any moisture issues and develop a plan to address that. The plan may include a drain system, sump pump, sealing windows, doors, pipes, applying a waterproof coating, and/or exterior drainage plan.

Most likely. Nearly every jurisdiction in the Kansas City area will require a permit when adding/changing plumbing, constructing walls, adding drywall, or installing windows in a basement. You may not need a permit for a rip and replace project or if you are changing material. No worries, we have a permitting expert on staff who will work with the city to permit your project. This is built into our process.

Each city jurisdiction has its own requirements but if you are adding a living space or bedroom to your basement you can count on needing an egress window. Our on-staff experts know these requirements and will ensure your basement design covers all the bases.

Yes, all Schloegel Design Remodel projects have a two-year construction warranty. 

Most of our basement remodels take a minimum of eight weeks once construction starts. Every single project is different so your specific project may take longer than that based on your home, basement design, and materials. We will be able to provide an accurate timeline once you’ve completed our Design Phase.
