For the seventeenth year in a row, we are proud to give away a custom-built bathroom to a deserving child. This year, we are once again partnering with the Olivia Bloomfield Foundation to continue this meaningful tradition! Olivia, who was born with congenital muscular dystrophy, was a tireless advocate for inclusivity and accessibility, and we are honored to carry on her legacy.

Through Olivia's Big Splash, we offer a complete bathroom makeover tailored to the needs of a child with special needs in the Kansas City area. This custom bathroom, valued at $35,000+, includes accessible fixtures and features designed for ease and independence.

Schloegel Design Remodel team with big splash recipient family and Olivia Bloomfield Foundation family after accessible bathroom remodel reveal

Last year, we had the honor of working with Matthew Calel as our 2026 Olivia’s Big Splash recipient. Matthew is an incredible 10-year-old who loves music, playing bass with his family at church, cars, and cheering on the Chiefs.

Matthew uses a wheelchair for mobility, but his existing bathroom made daily routines difficult. He couldn’t enter the bathroom in his wheelchair, his traditional tub and shower were difficult and unsafe to access, and even the sink was out of reach.

Together with Matthew and his family, we transformed the space into a custom accessible bathroom designed around his needs. The new bathroom gives Matthew greater accessibility, comfort, and independence—and creates a space that works better for his family, too.

I can't begin to tell you how grateful we are for everything you have done for my son, Matthew. Having this new bathroom has truly been life-changing for him and our family. It has been such a blessing. Bathing him is so much easier now, and he is able to get in and out of the bathroom with much more independence. Seeing him be able to do these things more independently means so much to as as parents.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for making this possible. Your kindness and all the work you put into helping Matthew have made such a big difference in his daily life. We are truly thankful for everything you have done for our son. ❤️
