For years, Colton couldn’t easily access the bathroom in his own home. That all changed last week with the reveal of his brand-new, fully accessible bathroom—custom-designed just for him.
As our 2025 Olivia’s Big Splash recipient, Colton and his family received a complete remodel tailored to his needs, making everyday life more comfortable and independent. Meet Colton and learn more about his story
Before – A Bathroom That Didn’t work
Just a reminder of what Colton’s bathroom looked like before, it simply wasn’t functional. The doorway was too narrow for his chair, and the standard tub/shower combo wasn’t usable for him. The sink couldn’t be accessed, and overall, the space fell short of what he needed. See Colton’s bathroom in construction.

Now: A Beautiful, Functional Wet Room Designed for Colton

Colton’s new bathroom works perfectly for him, and he made all the design selections! To give Colton more space, we borrowed square footage from the adjacent bedroom. Designers Kelly Summers and Leslie Hatfield reimagined the space as a wet room, eliminating barriers like walls and curbs so Colton can move freely throughout. A widened doorway allows Colton’s chair to glide on through.

When Colton and his parents first sat down with Kelly and she asked what type of design they wanted he immediately said green and gray! Kelly incorporated both. The cabinets are both Dried Thyme, a beautiful green color, while the floor and wall tile are both gray. They went with a matte black for the accessories and faucet, creating a sophisticated yet serene look.
The wall hung sink allows Colton to access it while a motion-activated faucet makes washing hands and brushing teeth much easier. A compact quartz counter provides just enough space without getting in the way. Kelly maximized storage with both a medicine cabinet mirror and two small shelves mounted to the side of the cabinet.

The toilet sits to the side of the doorway and an Upjohn in Dried Sage offers additional storage.

A ceiling-mounted shower curtain adds privacy and can be tucked completely out of the way—perfect for a wet room layout.

The shower itself has Onyx panel walls with built-in niches. Onyx is a wonderful option for low maintenance with a clean look. With both an overhead and a handheld shower on a slide bar, Colton’s setup is as functional as it is luxurious.
Colton’s mom, Cristina, said he enjoyed his first shower so much he managed to steam up part of the house!
It Takes a Village

This project came together thanks to an incredible team with giving hearts. We’d first like to thank Kelly Summers for her amazing design skills. Also, a HUGE thank you to Don Richeson who took the lead on this project. Most of the time Don is in the office masterminding our construction schedules, but this project had him back to using his hands.

Next, we’d like to thank the Olivia Bloomfield Foundation, whose partnership has elevated this initiative. This year they generously donated an electric lift system. This lift is a game changer for Colton, giving him access to more of his home and even beyond. Colton can now access things that were never a possibility before! First up, he was able to satisfy his need for speed with a ride in a Polaris Razor. Colton’s true passion is cars and for the first time there isn’t a limitation to which cars he can get into. Next up is a corvette!
Thank You to Our Generous Partners
And last but certainly not least our AMAZING trade partners and vendors. These projects take a ton of resources and talents, and our partners generously donate their time, talents, and materials.

We absolutely loved working with the Kinnard family and are so excited for Colton! If you know a child that needs an accessible bathroom we will be taking nominations in October for our 2026 bathroom.
