Jake —

I checked the other day and we are not having condensation in our attic.  However, we do have some major icicles off the front of the house… This is my new concern.  Do you think I should be concerned about ice damming?  Or is there something that could be done to prevent this? Thanks!

The icicles are a fact of life with this kind of weather.  There is not a lot you can do about them, hopefully with a properly installed roof system, such as “ice shield” underlayment around the edges and proper insulation – which should minimize the freeze-thaw cycles, and properly installed gutters, your house can withstand this winter onslaught.  Keep an eye on the ceilings in the rooms where the exterior ice is building up to make sure no stains are appearing.  We do have a roofing company that is offering ice-clearing services for those people that are having interior leaking issues.
