For our Lake of the Ozarks clients, stepping over a dated tub/shower combo was becoming less practical, and less safe, as they planned to age in place. They wanted a clean, modern, and most importantly accessible shower that offered stability, ease of entry, and long-term comfort. Our handyman team stepped in to transform the space quickly and efficiently, replacing unsafe and dated fixtures with a new shower designed for both safety and style.

Before: The Tub/Shower Combo Challenges
The original tub/shower combo had served its purpose, but it wasn’t ideal for our clients' current needs, or their future ones. Stepping over a high tub wall can be difficult and unsafe, especially in a wet space. The layout also lacked the stability features they were looking for, like grab bars or a place to sit. The space was also feeling dated and in need of a more sleek and timeless refresh.

While tub/shower combos certainly have their time and place, this bathroom just wasn’t the right fit anymore.
The Remodeling Process
Our handyman team handled this project from demolition to finishing touches. Here’s what the transformation included:
- Removed the existing tub/shower unit
- Installed a new low-profile shower pan for easy entry
- Added sleek sliding glass doors
- Installed a built-in bench for comfort and accessibility
- Added grab bars to provide stability and support
- Included recessed niches for convenient storage
- Added two shower heads, one handheld on a slide bar
- Updated materials for a clean, modern look

This was a straightforward rip-and-replace project with a big payoff, improved safety, better functionality, and a refreshed aesthetic.
After: A Modern + Accessible Shower
The finished shower is bright, streamlined, and intentionally designed for aging in place. With its low entry, bench seating, grab bars, and functional storage, it offers both confidence and comfort. The sliding glass doors keep the space feeling open and contemporary while making daily use easier.

It’s a simple update that completely changes the experience of showering and will offer safety and independence for our clients as they age in the comfort of their own home!
