This Fairway, Kansas bathroom remodel focused on updating the tub/shower combo while keeping the rest of the bathroom intact. The client wanted a modern soaking tub, new tile, a glass door instead of shower curtain, and updated fixtures. The project replaced the tub, tile, and trim while maintaining the existing layout, resulting in a clean, refreshed, and functional space brought to life by our handyman team.

Project Overview
The client wanted to modernize the tub and shower area while keeping the existing layout and other finishes intact. The existing bathroom had a standard tub/shower combo with basic, dated wall tile and fixtures which were rusting.
Client goals were clear: update the tub to a modern soaking model, refresh the wall tile, add a frameless glass door, and replace fixtures with matte nickel for a polished look, all without changing the rest of the bathroom. Working with Lindsay Brungardt, the team planned a simple and effective upgrade focused on style, functionality, and high-quality materials, giving the space a fresh, cohesive, and modern feel.
Remodel Scope & Process
The project began with the careful removal of the existing tub, fixtures, and valve, along with the wall tile, corner wainscot, and base trim.

Once the space was cleared, a new Kohler Entity 60” x 30” acrylic soaking tub was installed, complete with a matching brushed nickel drain and overflow.

Carrara Catalina 4x12 polished porcelain tile was mounted on the walls up to the ceiling in a horizontal offset pattern, finished with Schluter jolly edging and dark gray grout for a clean, polished look.

The Moen Gibson shower and tub fixtures, along with a pressure-balancing valve, were added in the existing locations to ensure functionality and a modern update.

A Kohler Levity 62” x 60” frameless glass tub door with matte nickel hardware was installed, and a new corner trim piece was painted to match the existing wainscot. Finally, paint touch-ups were completed around the new tile to seamlessly blend with the existing wall color, leaving the space refreshed and cohesive while maintaining the original bathroom layout.

Final Result
The tub/shower combo now has a modern, polished look, and the marble-look tile adds a timeless elegance to the space. The frameless glass door and brushed nickel fixtures further elevate the area, while the rest of the bathroom remains unchanged, preserving its original style.

By focusing on updating just the tub and shower, the bathroom feels refreshed without a full remodel. Choosing the right fixtures and tile creates a seamless, cohesive look, and keeping the existing layout helps reduce cost, waste, and disruption.
