When our past clients reached out about remodeling their basement, we couldn't wait to dive in. Having already transformed their exterior space, we were excited to take on a new challenge within their home.

The Existing Basement: Unfulfilled Potential
As a renowned BBQ master in Kansas City, our client frequently hosted guests, but their basement was not up to the task. The small bar was tucked away in a corner with minimal storage, making it far from ideal for entertaining. Additionally, the living space was inefficiently laid out, separated by a wall from a home gym that wasn't being used.

The Wish List
Our clients had a clear vision: an open space perfect for hosting, a large bar, an office space for her complete with ample room for awards, and updated bathroom and laundry areas. Indoor/outdoor access was also crucial, and they wanted the basement to echo the rustic elegance of their ranch-style home and the charm of their exterior spaces.
The Design: Opening Up the Space
To bring their vision to life, Leslie Hatfield started by removing the underutilized exercise room and a small entry space. In its place, we created a spacious bar, the new heart of the basement, while the family room was centered around the large French sliding doors, providing a seamless indoor/outdoor connection.
We also opened up the walls around the lower entry, allowing the office space to flow into the rest of the basement. A custom storage wall was designed to showcase her many awards, adding a personal touch to the space.

The Result: A Sensational Basement
The transformation was remarkable. Don Richeson, and Andy Gower led this project and it shows in every detail! The wide plank wood floors and exposed beams added warmth and character, while the shiplap wall brought in a touch of rustic charm. The centerpiece of the space, the drool-worthy bar, is now a perfect spot for entertaining guests. Every detail was carefully considered, and the end result is a stunning basement that captures the essence of their home.

The Bar: A Showstopper in the Basement Remodel
One of the standout features of this basement transformation is the bar, a true showstopper that perfectly blends functionality with style. Designed to be the heart of the space, this bar is no longer a small, tucked-away corner but a grand centerpiece that commands attention.
The bar's cabinetry adds a touch of sophistication and contrast against the shiplap walls, which provide a subtle, rustic backdrop. The glass-front cabinets allow the homeowners to display their impressive collection of spirits, while open shelving offers additional space for decorative touches. The brass hardware and fixtures bring warmth to the design, elevating the entire look with a refined, yet inviting feel.
The wide countertop, with its crisp, white surface, provides ample space for preparing drinks and serving guests, making it ideal for entertaining. Above the bar, three pendant lights with brass accents hang elegantly, adding to the bar's character and illuminating the space perfectly.
This bar is not just a functional addition to the basement—it's a space where memories will be made, whether hosting friends for a game day or enjoying a quiet evening drink. Its blend of rustic charm and modern elegance ties in beautifully with the overall design of the remodeled basement, making it a true highlight of the home.

Custom Built-in Storage
This stunning custom built-in is a perfect blend of practicality and design. Crafted from warm-toned wood, it adds a touch of rustic charm to the basement while offering ample storage space. The lower cabinets provide hidden storage, ideal for keeping essentials neatly tucked away, while the upper shelves display a curated collection of books, photographs, and decorative items. The rich wood grain and brass hardware tie in beautifully with the overall aesthetic of the basement, complementing the darker tones of the bar area.

Multi-Functional Laundry Room and Bathroom: A Space-Saving Solution
This cleverly designed space is more than just a laundry room—it's also a functional bathroom. The custom cabinetry, with its warm wood tones and brass hardware, provides ample storage for both laundry essentials and bathroom necessities, ensuring that everything has its place.

Bathroom
The newly remodeled bathroom features a clean and modern aesthetic with a touch of luxury. The white subway tile shower walls with their delicate pattern and the gold-toned accents add a touch of elegance. The spacious glass shower enclosure and the large vanity mirror create a sense of
openness. The dark-stained cabinetry provides a warm contrast to the lighter elements, while the white countertop and gold-toned faucets complete the sophisticated look. The overall design is both functional and stylish, creating a spa-like atmosphere that is perfect for relaxation.

Conclusion
From a tucked-away corner bar to a grand entertaining space, this basement remodel is a testament to the power of thoughtful design and collaboration with our clients. We couldn't be more thrilled with the outcome!
