West 62nd Street - Kansas City Kitchen Remodel
Project by Maggie Stephenson
This Brookside area, Kansas City home of a furniture builder exudes creativity and individuality in every corner. However, the kitchen had seen better days. The once-red walls were faded, the white trim was peeling, and the unfinished oak cabinetry and outdated gray laminate countertops left the space feeling worn.
Megan Bringman and Maggie Stephensen collaborated with the homeowners to craft a stunning, craftsman-style kitchen that now showcases an dark green tile backsplash, featuring handcrafted tiles. The cabinetry was replaced with beautifully stained natural walnut, and sleek white quartz countertops were added for a modern yet timeless touch. While the layout remained unchanged, new finishes, state-of-the-art appliances, and larger windows transformed the space into one that feels both functional and refined.
The new windows offer a view of the front yard, bringing in natural light, while across from the kitchen, the office and reading nook were also refreshed with fresh paint, built-in walnut bookcases, and a large window overlooking the curated garden. Updated pendant lighting throughout enhances the warmth and atmosphere, creating an ideal space for quiet reflection and creativity.
