If you missed part one of this renovation journey, make sure to read it here to get caught up here.
In that first post, we walked through the existing 1979 home, the design vision, and a video tour with designer Kelly Summers so you could see exactly how the layout currently works.
Now the real transformation has begun.
We’ve officially started demo! Keith Brockman is leading the project and it’s amazing how quickly a space begins to look completely different once the old materials start coming out. Cabinets are gone, the dated stone fireplace is coming down, and several structural and layout changes are already underway as we prepare the home for the next phase of construction.
Here’s a look at what we’ve tackled so far.
Table of Contents
The Kitchen Demo
The kitchen was one of the first areas to be completely cleared out. All of the existing cabinetry, appliances, and finishes have been removed to make way for the new layout and design.

Opening up the space now allows our team to prepare for electrical and plumbing rough-ins that will support the new kitchen configuration.

Fireplace Changes
One of the most dramatic demo moments so far has been removing the large rock fireplace. While it was a defining feature of the original 1979 home, the heavy stone made the space feel dated and visually crowded.

Taking it down instantly lightens the room and creates a cleaner foundation for the updated design that’s coming next.

We're getting the main floor prepped for framing and drywall. The coffee bar will be built into a wall in this area.

We're also ripping down old drywall in preparation for the new windows to be installed! The natural light in this space is going to be to die for.

The Lower Level
Work is also underway in the lower level where several elements have been removed to prepare for the upcoming renovation.

Stair handrails have been taken out, and sections of drywall have been opened up so the team can begin planning for updated electrical and plumbing systems throughout the home (especially those lower-level bathrooms!).

What’s Next
With demo well underway, the next phase of the project focuses on the behind-the-scenes work that makes the new design possible. Electrical and plumbing rough-ins will begin soon, followed by insulation and drywall as the home starts to take shape again. Stay tuned as we follow along with each step of the remodeling process in this incredible Lake of the Ozarks home!
