  • Achieving Sleek Luxury: A Kansas City Kitchen Remodel

Last updated on August 6, 2025

For many homeowners, the kitchen is the heart of the home. It should be a space that reflects personal style and meets unique needs, making everyday life more enjoyable. In one of our latest projects in Kansas City, we helped achieve just that. It was a journey to transform a dated space into a sleek, minimalistic but luxurious kitchen while increasing functionality.

The "Before": A Dated Canvas

Before our team stepped in, this Kansas City kitchen was a classic example of "dark and dated." Heavy, traditional wood cabinets, dark countertops, and a busy tile backsplash created a space that felt dense and lacked the bright, open feel our clients craved. It was clear this kitchen didn't reflect their contemporary tastes or the luxurious lifestyle they envisioned for their home.

Our clients worked with designer Andrea Stone to bring their vision to life. Andrea worked to understand what they liked and didn't like about the existing space. The answer was clear: brighten things up and add some sleek, modern drama.

The Vision & Design Choices

To achieve our clients' dream of a sleek luxurious feel, we started with a complete overhaul – gutting pretty much everythingThis allowed us to build from the ground up, ensuring every element contributed to the new desired aesthetic.

Construction

Project Manager Greg Goldstein under the direction of Jeff Penrose took care of the construction phase of the project. After demoing the kitchen, we had a blank slate to work with.

The foundation of this transformation was the installation of new custom frameless sleek white cabinets. Their clean lines and handle-less appearance would immediately open up the space, creating that seamless, uncluttered look essential for modern luxury.

Once cabinets were installed, we texturized the walls and painted them with a grey shade to add back some depth.

For the countertops and, most notably, the full-height backsplash, we selected stunning Cambria Southport quartz. This choice was impactful! The continuous slab of quartz creates a luxurious, seamless backdrop. It's visually striking but also durable and easy to maintain. The veining of the quartz adds depth and sophistication without overwhelming the minimalistic aesthetic.

To complement the quartz and cabinetry, we integrated sleek stainless-steel appliances and fixtures. This choice provides a subtle industrial edge that balances well with the soft whites. The intentional contrast of a dark gray wall color further enhances the crispness of the white elements and the shimmer of the stainless steel, adding a touch of modern drama. Finally, the existing warm light wood floors were preserved, adding back some warmth and natural dimension to the otherwise cool, modern palette. This helped the space flow well with the rest of the home and remain inviting.

The "After": A Masterpiece of Modern Elegance

The completed kitchen is a testament to thoughtful design and expert craftsmanship. The space is now full of light, sophistication, and a serene ambiance. The full-height Cambria Southport quartz backsplash packs a subtle dramatic punch, creating an uninterrupted flow of luxurious material that elevates the entire room. Every detail, from the frameless cabinets to the integrated stainless steel, contributes to the sleek luxury our clients envisioned. This kitchen isn't just beautiful; it's also highly functional, designed for effortless living and entertaining.

By understanding our clients' desire for sleek luxury and executing with precision, we've created a kitchen that not only meets but exceeds their expectations. It's a space where modern elegance meets practical living, enhancing their daily lives and the overall enjoyment of their home.

Our clients also wanted to include a custom coffee and tea bar area. They wanted it to be easily accessible for daily use, yet capable of being completely concealed behind a cabinet door to maintain the clean, minimalistic aesthetic when not in use. We delivered exactly that, integrating a dedicated station with ample space for their brewing essentials, complete with extra pull-out drawers for additional kitchen storage, ensuring functionality met their desire for a clutter-free environment.

Inside, there's a small counter with a coffee maker and pour-over setup, and below are deep wooden pull-out drawers for storage. The back wall of the bar area has a light-colored, veined quartz backsplash.

Our clients loved seeing their vision come to life through design and remodeling and it was so fun to walk them through every step of the process!
