McGee Street - Kansas City Bathroom Remodel

Project by Lindsay Brungardt

These clients enjoyed the layout of their bathroom, but knew they could inject it with more of their personal style. The bathroom before had everything they needed, but the finishings made for a flat and uninspiring experience. We designed a space for them with more depth, texture, and subtle hints of color. The biggest transformation was the shower. The shower floor before had a similar hexagonal tile job that we decided to reference, but with a more updated design and fresh tile. We replaced the gray large format tile with a striking 24" x 48" marble installed vertically. Also included in the shower is a built-in bench seat and shower niche. We kept the original vanities but replaced the nickel hardware and fixtures with new ones in matte black. The oversized mirror panels that existed before are now a pair of vanity mirrors with integrated LED lighting and defogging capabilities. The gray floor tile was replaced with black marble in a herringbone pattern and in-floor heating installed underneath. A spa-like freestanding tub has replaced the old drop-in tub and has an new tile surround. New wall sconces and pendant lighting provide warmth while a new sage green wall color evokes calm.
