When Anne and Michael Sheehan of Shawnee sought a design and remodel firm to make some major changes to their kitchen, they knew they needed a firm they could trust. Anne’s doctor had advised her to move out of the home to avoid the dust and fumes that were inevitable in a job like this. Since they couldn’t be there to check progress every day, the Sheehan’s put communication, expertise and trust at the top of their must-have list.
Anne had seen Schloegel’s work on the Remodeled Homes Tour and highlighted in the Kansas City Star. Their long-time designer, Diane Boren, recommended them as well, so the Sheehan’s sat down with Jake Schloegel and Gayle Jagoda to discuss their needs. It was obvious to Anne and Michael that that Jake and his team were very knowledgeable. “They thought of things we would never have thought of. They weren’t going to let us make any mistakes,” Anne said. “We immediately felt comfortable with them.” The Sheehans knows a thing or two about selecting a remodeling partner; this was their fourth remodel.
Well before the project began, Gayle and the team developed a detailed plan and timeline to get the Sheehan’s back into their home as quickly as possible. Because Anne couldn’t visit the site frequently, many key decisions were made during the planning process. During the remodel, lead carpenter, Joe Moore, sent photos to them every day. “This was appreciated, but not necessary,” says Anne. “We knew things would progress well because the planning and preparation process was so detailed.” The Schloegel team also took Anne’s health into consideration by helping her select carpet, flooring and finishes that would emit fewer fumes.
We felt confident that the project would be completed on time, and it was. “The Schloegel team was professional every step of the way; we knew we had nothing to worry about,” says Anne. She and Michael plan to use Schloegel’s Handyman Service to keep her home in top shape.
