We just wrapped up Chloe Wilson's dream bathroom and are so excited for the entire Wilson family. Over the past 14 years, we've given away at least a bathroom a year, and the feeling we get when seeing the family in their bathroom never grows old; it gets better! Take a look at the story Linda Wagar of Fox4 Problem Solvers made on Chloe and her bathroom.
Yet again, this year, we had help and donations from our fantastic trade partners (listed below). We could not accomplish this without them.
A Little Bit About Chloe

Chloe in her new bathroom
Chloe was diagnosed with Congenital Muscular Dystrophy at six months old. Still, with her powerchair, there is no stopping her, except perhaps the restrictions the rest of the world has put on her, including the builders of her home. Chloe's bathroom doorway wasn't wide enough for her to get her chair in, and even if she could have, she could not have washed her hands at the standard sink or wheeled herself in the shower/tub combo.
Addressing Her Unique Needs with Thoughtful Design
The project began with a clear vision: to create a bathroom that ensures Chloe's comfort, safety, and independence. See the bathroom in construction. Kelly Summers, Leslie Hatfield, Jeff Penrose, and the entire team created a bathroom that included several key features specifically tailored to Chloe's requirements:
Spacious and Open Layout: The bathroom combined two smaller bathrooms to give Chloe ample space, allowing her to maneuver her wheelchair with ease.
Accessible Shower: A roll-in shower and a handheld showerhead were installed, making bathing a safer and more enjoyable experience for Chloe and her family.
Wheelchair-Friendly Sink and Vanity: The sink and vanity were customized to be accessible from a seated position, promoting Chloe's independence. We designed it a bit taller than Chloe's seat in her chair today, so as she grows, she'll be able to continue to use it. No worries; she knows exactly how to lift her powerchair to turn the water on now.
Bright and Contemporary Aesthetic: The bathroom was designed to be not only functional but also uplifting, with a clean, contemporary design.
The Big Reveal
A quick reminder of what the bathroom looked like before.

Bathroom before

Bathroom after
Chloe's bathroom now has a double vanity. One of the sinks is set for Chloe to be able to reach it in her chair. Chloe's faucet is electronic so she can turn it on and off by waving her hand in front of it. The counter at the back if the room is a changing spot for Chloe so she doesn't have to use the floor or go to another room.

The roll-in shower is large enough to wheel Chloe in. It has a hand held shower attached to a bar and can also slide up and down. We also included a standard shower head for her family to use.

A closer look at the vanity built and donated by Parks Cabinets. A beautiful dark stain, quartz counters, and matte black faucets create a beautiful contemporary look.

Before we even opened the new doors for Chloe and her family, they greeted us with this amazing driveway art. Needless to say, tears were shed before we even walked in. Then they treated us to a yummy cookie cake!

Chloe loved showing us everything she could do in her new bathroom, including wheeling in, turning the light on and off, turning the faucet on and off, and even getting into the shower! Her family was overwhelmed with gratitude for what it meant for their day-to-day lives and their ability to host Chloe's friends.
