It’s a fact: more people are living longer and wanting to stay in their homes as long as possible. So whether you’re a young person with small children or well into the empty nest phase, you should know how to prepare your household for all the lifestyle transitions ahead.
This is why Schloegel Design Remodel is happy to invite you to our next Smart Remodeling Workshop: Re-purposing Your Home for Changing Lifestyles – From Starting a Family to Empty Nesters.
In this interactive and educational workshop with Jake Schloegel and Debby Allmon, you’ll learn about how universal and adaptable design can improve your home’s functionality through all the lifestyle changes that the future brings. You’ll also see examples of how Schloegel has helped its clients stay in their homes, whether its by providing home maintenance and products that aid in lifestyle transitions or by remodeling a room or floor in anticipation of later needs. Of course, everyone will have plenty of opportunities to receive personalized advice for their home.
Besides their expert remodeling knowledge, presenters Jake and Debby are uniquely qualified to lead the workshop because they’ve both recently remodeled their homes in anticipation of lifestyle changes. Debby remodeled her kitchen last year so it would work for her family and their future.
“Our kids are 12 and 16 now and we know that over the next five to 10 years, our lifestyle will be totally different,” Debby said. “So we want to make sure that our new kitchen is great for now, for when the kids are in college and when are empty nesters.”
Jake, on the other hand, remodeled to better accommodate his job as a grandpa.
“We love having all the grandkids over and we wanted a place where we all could be together. That meant a larger room, a big expandable table and room for toys. We we’re considering a room addition then realized that we could capture a seldom used living room and double the size of our dining room. This solution worked out perfect for us,” Jake said.
“With our four children and their spouses, the five grandchildren (soon to be six) and Debby and me, the 16 of us can comfortably gather as a whole family, make merry and create some happy memories.”
The workshop is April 18, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Schloegel Design Remodel Showroom, 311 W 80th St, Kansas City, MO. As always, we’ll have plenty of snacks and beverages, so come ready to enjoy yourself! Reserve your seat here. We’ll see you soon!
