  • Dealing with Home Damage Caused by a Tree? Find Out How Our Kansas City Handyman Team Can Rescue Your Home!

Last updated on January 30, 2024

What’s better than a good handyman or contractor? Any ideas? We don’t have any either! House maintenance is a crucial part of homeownership—and it comes in all sizes, big projects and small. Dealing with wood rot or water damage? Have a small remodeling project? Or a bathroom remodel? Call a Kansas City handyman or contractor.

Given that housing projects come in all shapes and sizes, and each requires varying levels of skill, craftsmanship, and technical expertise, our team at Schloegel goes above and beyond with more certified craftsmen than any other remodeler in the country. This means that not only can you rest assured that your project will get done, but it will get done to the highest quality and done right the first time.

One common issue we see in Kansas City is exterior siding issues from tree damage, wood rot, animals, etc. This time of year we tend to see quite a bit of damage from downed tree limbs or ice dams, which, when not addressed, can compromise the structural integrity of a structure.

The good news? The Schloegel handyman team has extensive experience repairing home exteriors in the Kansas City area. (And if you are signed up for our Advantage Plan, we will regularly assess your home for potential issues to mitigate any extensive projects).

Assessing the Siding Damage

The first thing our team will do is assess the size and scope of the damage. This will determine the materials needed. In this case a tree limb had fallen and taken out the home's electrical service along with a good portion of the siding. The remaining siding had quite a bit of wood rot.

Siding Demo Phase

In the demo phase, Montana Ralstin, Mark Garies, and Jim Clark removed all the damaged area including any wood rot and will uncover the true extent of the damage. From there, they procured all the materials to complete the project. During this process, they ensured the area is well protected and insulated right away, thereby minimizing the impact on the rest of your home and your family.

Making It Good as New

After the wood rot was removed, Montana, Mark, and Jim expertly cut and installed the new cedar shake shingles. They then primed and painted bringing the home back to its original condition. They also made the repairs to ensure this area wouldn't become a recurring problem.
