In December, we introduced you to our 2023 Olivia Bloomfield Foundation Big Splash recipient, 9-year-old Lottie Ireland, and shared her journey with TBCK syndrome, a rare neurogenetic degenerative disease that causes intellectual and physical disabilities and seizures. We are well into construction and are very excited to see how much progress has been made to not only the bathroom addition, but also upgrades to the rest of the home that will benefit Lottie’s entire family! This project has been the combined vision of Kelly Summers, CKBR, Leslie Hatfield, and assisted by Lindsay Brungardt.

Lottie’s Space Before
Lottie’s room is located near the main bathroom but getting her chair through the doorways and around a tight corner was less than ideal. Lottie also shares this room with her younger sister who is outgrowing her crib and getting a twin-sized upgrade. With some thoughtful rearranging and the addition of a full bath and closet, Lottie will have a much better time navigating her space and both girls will have room to grow.

Kelly Summers has been working hard picking design elements and has even been making some components by hand! The most important thing is to create a space that’s easily accessible and allows Lottie’s family to provide her with the best care, but Kelly has also included so many fun and girly details we hope Lottie will love! Because we are so excited for this reveal, we’ve decided to give you a sneak peek at some of the elements we’ve got waiting to be installed!

Building The Bathroom
After demolition was complete, our team began framing out the new bathroom that will be located in what was previously the back section of the garage. This gives Lottie direct access from her bedroom and allows her to fully utilize her wheelchair.
