Brenda Axman

Design Assistant

Brenda attended Wichita State University in pursuit of a degree in Business Administration. After a few accounting classes, she’d found no interest in a career in number-crunching. Some classes in marketing and management sparked her interest in the more creative side of business, and she picked up Marketing and Management as her second major.

During and after college, Brenda worked almost ten years in retail sales. Eight of those years she served in a clothing store in which the layout was rearranged monthly around a new product. This sales strategy aligned with her lifelong interest in visual merchandising and store design. In her time there, she earned the role of training her sales team on the monthly product drop.

Her capacity for leadership promoted her quickly in her next job providing technical support for internal users of Cerner’s medical software. Within two years, she was training the steady stream of new employees into her department.

She got engaged, moved to Kansas City, and enrolled in a junior college to pursue her interest in design. In the fall of 2019, she joined the Schloegel team in an administration capacity, and has since transitioned into a design assistant. Since the change, she’s trained under the accomplished Donna Kirsopp and assisted in all her projects. Always searching to learn more, she’s sought and picked up techniques from our whole design team.

Brenda and her husband share their beautiful dog, Margo, a love for travel, and the joy of discovering new places. They take their pup on long walks and bike rides, and her double blue eyes and curled tail always draw the question, “Is she a mini husky?” Margo is, in fact, an Alaskan Klee Kai. The couple makes regular trips to shred powder at Keystone or camp and hike in Arkansas. On a casual evening out, they love to browse the city for a new coffee shop or restaurant.
