This is part of an ongoing project in Kansas City’s historic Waldo neighborhood. You can catch up on what happened in weeks 1, 2 and 3 here, here and here.
Wow! Things are really starting to move along this week!

We are starting to see bits and peices of color coming into the space, which is extremely exciting. The white, unfinished drywall was beginning to feel a bit stale. We began with wall paint, using a nice, modern tone of grey that kept the space light but toned it down from the unpainted white.
Next, the crew began installation on some of the signature features of the new space. They started with a new, built-in China hutch. Tom and Kenny from Hinge Woodworking came in to install the hutch, and a lot of time was spent in design. The team wanted to make sure it not only fit all of the Allmon’s dinnerware and China, but also had unique design features. The hutch, which extends past the wall and has glass on 3 sides, will certainly be a show-stopper once completed.
The team also began installation of the backsplash tiles. This exciting herringbone pattern will be a nice feature under the hood and above the range.

Finally, we also had some of the larger appliances installed! The stainless steel finish is going to look great matched with the tile, the floor and the wall color.

We can’t wait to show you what happens next week, as we add flooring and more finishing touches. The project is almost complete, stay tuned for more!
See what happens next!
