How many times have you opened that basement or garage door only to be greeted by an ear-splitting CRRREEEAAKKKK! Or had to wiggle your key back and forth because it catches or won’t glide into the lock easily? Now is a good time to go through the house with a handy can of WD-40 and a rag and lubricate the hinges and locks on all the doors. Be careful not to over-lubricate, as this can cause the lubricant to drain onto the jamb and cause damage to your finish! Start with a little oil, you can always add more as needed, and make sure you clean up as go. Click here to see easy step-by-step pictures of lubricating a door hinge properly.
