  • Schloegel’s Handyman Services: Elevating Home Appeal Through French Door Replacement

Last updated on February 27, 2024

Most of us don’t look forward to home maintenance. It’s time-consuming and can be costly, but in the world of home ownership, it isn’t an option. That being said, there are a few things that, once there, are more fun than others to fix or replace. One of those is exterior doors, especially French doors. The French doors in this Mission Hills home had lived their glory days, and it was time for their retirement. Our client enlisted the expertise of Schloegel’s Handyman Services to replace the French doors.

Time for an update

The old French doors had wood rot and had started crumbling. Additionally they were no longer closing properly, and the seals had been worn, letting out valuable cold and warm air while letting in the alternative.

Troy Stout worked with our client to help select a new door. Troy measured the existing door to ensure sizing was correct and ordered the new Marvin Elevate French doors.

Installing the new French doors

Before removing the old doors our Handyman Team first put down floor protection and carefully removed the client’s drapes. They then removed the old doors. With the old doors off they set the new French doors. They then nailed and taped door fins or the weather stripping at the bottom of the door. After that they installed new trim on the inside and exterior. Finally, they caulked around the door ensuring no water could get in and then painted to both inside and out. Our Handyman Services Team vacuumed up any debris, cleaned the doors inside and out, removed all the dust protection, and disposed off any garbage leaving the home better than when they arrived.

Beautiful New French Doors

The new doors look beautiful. The paint on the doors and trim match the home’s siding. What’s even better are the doors are sealed and will help keep the Kansas City weather outside the home.
