designKC Magazine recently hosted its second annual home design awards gala. Hundreds of designers, remodelers, architects, and builders throughout the Kansas City area submitted projects and the winning projects are truly something. Our city is full of talent, and we are so honored to be recognized among them for two amazing projects. Both projects received Honorable Mentions.

Tudor Revival Kitchen & Bathroom Remodel by Lindsay Brungardt
Lindsay Brungardt worked alongside Leslie Hatfield and her team to create a design that gave our awesome clients everything on their wish lists. Joe Meagher and Andy Gower brought those designs to life. The project completely transformed their kitchen and added a bathroom to their primary bedroom.
The new design completely opened up the kitchen space making way for a beautiful play of materials with white cabinets warmed with a green mosaic backsplash and walnut island cabinets the materials. The remodeled Kansas City kitchen is just as beautiful as it is functional.
Lindsay and Leslie created a complete bathroom simply by taking square footage from the bedroom. Joe made the Kansas City bathroom feel like it had always been there—no easy feat with a home built in the 1920s. The vanity is the same walnut color as the island in the kitchen. The shower has multiple showerheads and a bench to boot! This antique blue tile steals the show. It all comes together in perfect harmony.
The Tale of a Leawood Home Addition and Kitchen Remodel by Donna Kirsopp & Kenny Choikhit
Our clients initially wanted to remodel their kitchen, as Donna Kirsopp and Kenny Choikhit started initial discussions the project began to grow; what began as a kitchen ended with a full Leawood kitchen remodel and an addition with changes to their garage, mudroom, powder bathroom, an office, and sensational Narnia playroom. It became one of the most incredible projects we've ever had the opportunity to work on.
We love the way this kitchen came together! An addition allowed us to square off the kitchen and add a substantial island. To provide our clients with the clean and bright kitchen they dreamed of, the bulk of the cabinetry is white and now extends all the way up to the ceiling with shaker-style fronts. The unique gold surround featured on both the buffet and island was inspired by an image provided by our clients. This gold detail pairs beautifully with the bold navy accent color.
Turn the skeleton key, step through the fur coats, and take in the magic that is Narnia. Our clients sourced a truly magical antique French wardrobe which is the entrance to this enchanting playroom. For the inside of the playroom our clients selected a specific scene image from the movie and Donna and Kenny helped bring it to life. It’s focused on the lamppost which is pilastered to the back wall with a realistic flame light that is operated via a switch on the wall. It was the ‘compass’ in our design, much like it served for the children to come home in the story.
