KC NARI held their annual REMY, Remodel of the Year, awards last Thursday. We are so excited to share that our team brought home awards for 15 projects, including two Best of Show awards. It was our largest awards show yet and it’s remarkable that most of these projects were done during a pandemic. We are so very proud of each and every one of our team members as it truly takes a team. We can’t wait to share more details on each of these projects in the coming months!
Best of Show $75,001 to $150,000 & Gold & All Star Kitchen $100,001 to $150,000
Designer: Nina Schmidt | Project Manager: Jeff Penrose
The kitchen was quite small for this home and the homeowners wanted to create a large kitchen for entertaining and baking! Our homeowner had already identified the large BlueStar range he wanted for the kitchen and we used that as a starting point in the kitchen design. The new kitchen is anything but small. The large two-tiered island is perfect for both everyday meals and entertaining. The dark stained cabinetry pairs well with the bright blue range, creating a show-stopping kitchen.
Best of Show Under 75,000 & Gold & All Star Exterior $50,000 to $100,000
Designer: Kelly Summers | Lead Carpenter: Chris Bradley | Project Manager: Don Richeson
Our clients had fallen victim to an unscrupulous contractor and ensuring they could trust their remodeling team was paramount. We worked with them through permitting, material selection, and every step along the way to create this magnificent pergola. The detached structure would provide a great place for relaxing, taking in a game, or hosting guests.
Gold & All Star Universal Design – Bath
Designer: Kelly Summers | Lead Carpenter: Kris Worden | Project Manager: Don Richeson
Having been a great client for many years, the homeowner reached out to us when they determined they’d need to make accessible updates to their primary bathroom. The goal was to create a bathroom that was easy to use in a wheelchair but that didn’t “didn’t look like a hospital”. Designer Kelly Summers just did. The bathroom is as functional as it is beautiful with a large roll-in shower, under cabinet lighting, large door openings, and beautiful finishes.
Gold & All Star Bath Over $100,000
Designer: Ron Webster & Nina Schmidt | Lead Carpenter: Keith Brockman | Project Manager: Billy Andrews
What was once dark and slightly awkward is now open, light, and absolutely gorgeous! The multiple shades of gray mixed with white and pop of Navy blue create a relaxing primarybathroom. A gray dual primaryvanity provides plenty of storage space. Built-in cabinets along with the wall house a hidden washer and dryer and provide plenty of counter space for folding laundry. The gorgeous free-standing tub is the perfect place to relax after a long day. Dual Kohler artifact showerheads ensure the shower isn’t an afterthought. It’s a truly luxurious primarybathroom. Gold & All Star Bath $75,001 to $100,000
Designer: Gayle Jagoda | Lead Carpenter: Keith Brockman | Project Manager: Billy Andrews
With toiletries, jewelry, and other items taking over the counter space and the jetted tub acting as a linen closet our homeowners knew they needed a more efficient primarybathroom with built-in organization tools. We were able to re-work the layout of their bathroom within its existing footprint to deliver all the items on their wish list including a zero-entry walk-in shower, plenty of cabinetry, separate his and hers vanities, a television, and an abundance of light. They now have the primarybathroom of their dreams where they can relax.
Gold Bath $50,001 to $75,000
Designer: Kelsey Kimble | Lead Carpenter: Steve Beck | Project Manager: Don Richeson
Our clients wanted to take their dated 1980’s bathroom and bring it into the 21st century. Their dream for a spa bathroom to retreat to at the end of the day came true with this beautiful remodel. Kelly’s bathroom design includes a contemporary floating vanity, a large shower, and a beautiful soaking tub. The unique finishes really set this bathroom apart and help capture a spa oasis vibe.
Gold & All Star Designs and Plans
Designer: Donna Kirsopp |Design & Plans: Leslie Hatfield, Katy Culwell, Hilary Bybee | Project Manager: Billy Andrews
Our clients love their 1920’s home but wanted to add space and update it to better suit their lifestyle. Their hope was to add a space for gathering that opened up to their kitchen. They also wanted to add a laundry room and mudroom. Donna Kirsopp and Leslie Hatfield worked to create an addition that gave them all their wish list items but that also didn’t ‘feel’ like an addition but rather captured the spirit of the 1920’s home. The end result, everyday elegance.
Gold & All Star Detached Structure
Designer: Kenny Choikhit | Project Manager: Andy Gower
Our clients had just moved into an urban home, to be close to family. Although beautiful, their new home lacked space to keep up their woodworking and gardening hobbies. They knew they needed help to add or re-work their space and through discussions, we determined a separate garage structure would fulfill their needs. We designed the garage with 3 separate bays; one for a car, another for a woodshop, and the final for their greenhouse. Add in the new driveway, privacy fence, and security gates and our homeowners now have their perfect home!
Gold & All Star Interior Element Over $30,000
Designer: Nina Schmidt | Lead Carpenter: Randy Shepard | Project Manager: Kirk Thomas
With a large open space between the kitchen and the doors leading to the outdoor covered patio and pool area, our clients wanted to create a custom bar for entertaining. We designed this stunning bar to be a stand-alone feature with dark painted cabinets that have a walnut interior. Honed quartzite counters and custom lighting make this more than just a bar, it’s a piece of art!
Gold & All Star Kitchen $60,001 to $100,000
Designer: Ron Webster | Lead Carpenter: Kyle Coelho | Project Manager: Jeff Penrose
We loved working with this wonderful couple to create a kitchen that captured their contemporary design aesthetic. Although their kitchen had been remodeled once before, it was already showing its age and it wasn’t very functional. Ron Webster worked with the couple to create a kitchen that is highly functional, contemporary, and beautiful! Read more about the kitchen remodel.
Gold Kitchen $30,000 to $60,000
Designer: Kelsey Kimble | Lead Carpenter: Nic Juncos | Project Manager: Don Richeson
When the microwave above their oven kitchen quit working, they knew it was time, time for a change. Overall, their layout worked but what wasn’t working, the direct sightlines to the microwave. Kelsey Kimble helped them create an updated layout with a beautiful color palette. The upper white cabinets and multi-color tile backsplash help balance the teal lower cabinets. Creating a look both beautiful and serene.
Gold & All Star Room Addition Over $250,000
Designer: Donna Kirsopp | Project Manager: Billy Andrews
From our first meeting it was apparent that despite the current value and proposed cost of the scope of the project, this was and would remain where our clients wanted to live. So rather than move for more space, they decided to add on to make it their forever home. The large addition added a kitchen, family room, primarybedroom, primarycloset, and screened porch. Another addition added a mudroom and garage. A two-sided fireplace and large patio offer indoor/outdoor living. Nearly every square inch of the home was remodeled with custom touches to create a traditional, rustic style retreat.
Gold Interior Remodel Under $100,000
Designer: Kelly Summers | Project Manager: Jeff Penrose
This family of four felt stuck in their 80’s style home with its’ oak flooring, stained oak trim, honey oak cabinets, and an island complete with a florescent oak light fixture. After their stove died, they decided it was time to discuss remodeling the main level of their home. When they met with Kelly Summers, they shared their desire to capture a beach look in their kitchen. Kelly helped them design a kitchen/dining area with additional storage and post remodel our clients have a beautiful main floor with a subtle beach vibe.
Gold & All Star Exterior Under $50,000
Designer: Perry Holloway & Ron Webster | Lead Painter: Greg Goldstein | Project Manager: Kirk Thomas
This beautiful two-story home had lost its luster due to significant wood rot, exposed electrical conduit, old junction boxes, and an old paint job. When our homeowners purchased the home a year ago, giving its exterior a fresh look was at the top of their list. We worked with them to create a plan that addressed all the old electrical elements, repaired or replaced all the wood rot and selected paint that would do the home justice. We partnered with an exterior illumination company to light up the home properly and the end result speaks for itself!
Silver Exterior $100,001 to $200,000
Designer: Troy Stout | Lead Carpenter: Judd Galloway | Project Manager: Kirk Thomas
Our clients live in a beautiful home on the shore of a small neighborhood lake. Taking in their lake view, with a cup of coffee is their favorite morning activity. Through the years, weather elements had taken their toll on parts of the home’s exterior, and the homeowners looked to us to help make the necessary repairs. Troy Stout helped put a plan to address the wood rot, install new windows, paint and update the porch. By using a systematic approach, we were able to restore this home without major disruption to the homeowners. They’re delighted with their updated porch and deck and look forward to enjoying the outdoor space they love so much.
Keep an eye out in the coming months for more details on each of these amazing, award winning, projects!
