  • 2025 Home Design Trends: 9 Key Styles You’ll Love

Last updated on January 3, 2025

Somehow, we are officially a quarter of the way through this century, and we’ve seen tons of design trends go in, out, and back in again. What we love most about design is that truly good design is doing what you love in your home and that fits your lifestyle. It’s great the trends are starting to reflect those ideals too! In 2025, home design trends are all about creating spaces that promote well-being, reflect individuality, and celebrate natural beauty. From wellness-inspired rooms to bold color schemes, these trends aim to enhance both the look and feel of your home. Whether you're planning a full remodel or simply looking to refresh a room, it’s always fun to see the new design trends of 2025.

1. At Home Wellness Spaces

The concept of wellness at home is gaining momentum, with spaces designed to promote relaxation, mindfulness, and physical health. We’ve seen a large uptick in clients requesting home spas with cold plunges, steam showers, and even saunas.

Basement wellness room

This project (which we haven’t had a chance to professionally shoot yet) has it all with a sauna, cold plunge, and steam shower.

Large roll-in shower

This shower is the ultimate spa retreat with dual shower heads and heat under both the bench and shower floors!

2. Earth Tones

A return to nature is in full swing, with warm earth tones dominating interiors. Shades of terracotta, olive, mustard, and brown bring a sense of grounded tranquility to any space. These tones can be used for walls, furniture, or accessories to create an organic feel that connects the indoors with the natural world outside.

Fairway, KS bathroom remodel with green vanity

We love the dark green hue of this vanity mixed with the natural quartzite top.

2025 design trends

This moody shower captures all the natural elements with the upper olive tile, wood looking lower tile, and brass fixtures.

3. Artful lighting

Lighting is no longer just a functional element of a room; it’s a statement. 2025 will see a focus on artful, sculptural lighting fixtures that double as pieces of art. From bold, geometric chandeliers to soft, ambient sconces, lighting is taking center stage in design, helping to set the mood and define the style of a space.

Prairie Village bathroom

This stunning sconce mimics the shape of the mirror and captures the curve of the faucet. It emits the perfect light for a basement bathroom.

Bedroom sconce

This beautiful wall sconce is the first thing you see walking into the primary suite. Nina Schmidt and the clients affectionately called this the "mushroom light.

4. Highly Personalized Spaces

Gone are the days of cookie-cutter designs. In 2025, personalization is key. People are looking to create spaces that reflect their unique tastes, lifestyles, and stories. Whether it’s through bespoke furniture, custom-built features, or one-of-a-kind decor, expect to see homes that are tailored to the individual, creating environments that feel truly special and personal.

Kansas City kitchen remodel

We love this kitchen designed by Brenda Axman as it truly showcases our client’s style. A bold blue backsplash might not be everyone’s preference but it’s highly personalized and that’s what makes it even more fantastic.

Custom playroom remodel | Narnia

This Narnia playroom is one of the most personalized spaces we’ve had the honor to work on and we adore it. See more of the stunning space.

5. Color Drench

For those who aren’t afraid of bold statements, color drenching is a trend to watch. This involves using a single color for an entire room, from walls to ceilings to furniture, creating a monochromatic effect that feels bold and cohesive. Whether it's a calming blue or a rich burgundy, color drenching brings energy and depth to any space.

Color Drench | Green | Library

Color drenching at it’s very finest – this library uses the same color green on the cabinets, walls, and trim creating a amazing moody room.

Powder bathroom

We love this form of color drenching. The same color is carried from the marble mosaic tile to the wainscotting, wallpaper, and trim. Different patterns, same color. Lovely.

6. Inspired by the Sea

The calming and soothing influence of the sea is making waves in 2025 design, although we don’t think it ever really left. Soft blues, sandy neutrals, and ocean-inspired textures bring a coastal vibe into the home, no matter where you live. This trend isn’t just about nautical elements but about incorporating the peace and serenity that comes from the sea into your everyday environment.

Mission Hills bathroom remodel

Oh, how this bathroom perfectly encapsules the sea. The navy stain vanities, the blue tile border, and the calming wall color.

Bathroom remodel | sea inspired

Another beautiful bathroom with oceanic elements. We love the blue vanity paint and the rain glass shower door and wall.

7. Dedicated spaces

More and more people are adapting their home to work for their specific needs. In 2025, we’re seeing a shift towards rooms or corners that are designed with purpose, whether it’s a home office, music room, or study nook. These spaces are designed with intention.

Fairway, KS music room

An entertainer’s dream space. Our client wanted to make a room dedicated to his music and baby grand piano

Leawood bunkroom

A room dedicated to sleepovers, could there be a more fantastic, dedicated space?!

8. Warm Stained Wood

Dark wood tones are making a comeback in 2025, adding warmth, sophistication, and depth to any room. Whether it’s used for flooring, furniture, or cabinetry, dark wood creates a rich, elegant foundation for other design elements. Pair it with light-colored walls or soft fabrics to balance out the intensity.

A stunning fireplace remodel with darkly stained quarter sawn oak.

Leawood kitchen remodel

The creamy white backsplash and multi-dimensional quartzite counter keep these warm stained beech cabinets from becoming too dark.

9. Natural & handmade materials

There’s a growing emphasis on authenticity, with natural and handmade materials taking center stage in 2025 interiors. From handcrafted ceramics to natural stone countertops, these materials add texture, uniqueness, and a sense of sustainability to your home.
