Nominations Open This Week for the 2027 Olivia’s Big Splash Custom Bathroom Giveaway!
We’re excited to launch the 2027 Olivia’s Big Splash Custom Bathroom Giveaway, in collaboration with the Olivia Bloomfield Foundation! Olivia, who was born with congenital muscular dystrophy, was a passionate advocate for accessibility and inclusion. This annual giveaway celebrates her legacy and continues to make a difference in the lives of Kansas City families.
About the Accessible Bathroom Giveaway
Olivia’s Big Splash provides a custom-designed, fully accessible bathroom to a local family with a child living with disabilities. Too often, bathrooms aren’t designed to meet accessibility needs, creating daily challenges for children and their families. This giveaway gives our team the opportunity to create a safe, beautiful space designed around a child’s unique needs—while helping bring greater comfort, independence, and dignity to everyday life.
How It Works
- Nominations are open: Friday, October 2, 2026 through Friday, October 30, 2026
- Who can nominate? Professionals working in children’s services are invited to nominate, and families are also welcome to nominate themselves with a reference from a children’s services provider.
- Public recipient announcement: Week of November 30th
- Remodel timeline: Construction will begin in December and wrap up in early 2027!

2026 Winner – Matthew Calel
Last year, Matthew Calel and his family were selected as the 2026 Olivia’s Big Splash recipients. Matthew’s existing bathroom presented significant challenges for his mobility and independence, including a doorway that could not accommodate his wheelchair and a tub/shower that required his dad to physically lift him in and out.
Our team worked alongside the Calel family, trade partners, volunteers, and the Olivia Bloomfield Foundation to create a fully accessible bathroom designed specifically around Matthew’s needs. The finished space gives Matthew greater independence, comfort, and freedom in his everyday routine.
I can't begin to tell you how grateful we are for everything you have done for my son, Matthew. Having this new bathroom has truly been life-changing for him and our family. It has been such a blessing. Bathing him is so much easier now, and he is able to get in and out of the bathroom with much more independence. Seeing him be able to do these things more independently means so much to as as parents.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for making this possible. Your kindness and all the work you put into helping Matthew have made such a big difference in his daily life. We are truly thankful for everything you have done for our son. ❤️
