  • 2020 Big Splash Custom Bathroom Giveaway

Last updated on September 22, 2023

2020 has been a rough year so we are even more excited to bring a little joy into the lives of a local family with our Big Splash Bathroom Giveaway. We need your help finding an amazing and deserving child with special needs, in the Kansas City area. There are so many wonderful families in our area that struggle to help their children with daily bathroom activities because most bathrooms aren’t built with accessibility in mind. We know how small changes can make a huge impact on a child’s life and that is why we started the Big Splash Bathroom Giveaway ten years ago. It is an opportunity for our team to use their expertise to give back to the community we love so much.

Schloegel and the Love Fund know that by working together a little care can make a big splash!Love fund for children

How it Works

We will be taking nominations for children that would benefit from an accessible bathroom Thursday, October 1 through Friday, October 30, 2020.

The giveaway includes a complete bathroom makeover which includes handicap accessible fixtures and features, a $25,000 value. The recipient will be announced the week of December 7 and the project will kick off in January of 2020. Take a look at the Giveaway Rules for more details.

Last Year’s Recipients

David Uria

David is full of energy! He was born with spina bifida and uses a wheelchair full time. Instead of feeling bound to a wheelchair, he has created new opportunities with it whether it be wheelies or playing wheelchair soccer. See David’s bathroom.

“The bathroom remodel has been life-changing for our family.  We never would have been able to accomplish this on our own.  From having an entire team to bounce ideas off of and then make it happen was truly a GIFT.  Davey has gained independence which is always correlated with an increase in self-confidence as well!  Thank you, Schloegel!” – Val Uria

Sage Rovenstine

Sage is a bright, charismatic who hasn’t let his cerebral palsy stop him from enjoying life. He isn’t able to stand unsupported and uses a wheelchair for mobility. The Rovenstine bathroom was not built with wheelchair accessibility in mind, which has hindered Sage’s independence in the bathroom. Our team worked with Sage and his family to create a bathroom that fit his needs. Check out Sage’s new bathroom!

“The new bathroom isn’t just great for Sage it has been unbelievably wonderful for our entire family! Sage seems to radiate with joy that he’s gained from his new independence and it has carried through in all aspects of his life.” – Jessica Rovenstine

Henry Flores

Henry is an amazing little boy who already has overcome obstacles you and I couldn’t imagine! He was born without arms and legs. Even without them, Henry has adapted to every element of his life. Leslie Hatfield and Amy Brown really thought outside the box to create a bathroom that perfectly fits Henry’s needs. Take a look at Henry’s new bathroom.

“This has turned out so much better than I imagined. The freedom Henry has is unbelievable. The simple task of being able to turn on the light by himself is so exciting.” – Rachel Flores
